WE ARE STARDUST: JONI MITCHELL

to be a witness to the birth and rise of this star must have been something special. a folk angel with the sweet voice of a morning songbird. i remember growing up, my mother putting on joni early sunday mornings, when the mountain air was still cool and crisp. i would often attempt to emulate her sound and always failed miserably. i wish i could have seen her strumming her guitar, her golden hair shimmering in the sunlight, hundreds of thousands of people watching at woodstock. still beloved and beautiful. sweet joni mitchell.

//// stumbled upon this old photo of sailor jerry doing what he does best. i love this picture. from his horn rimmed glasses to the pipe dangling from his mouth. this man is legendary. of course sailor jerry is known for a very specific style of tattoo imagery, and it always leads back to the men at sea. that vision inspired this playlist. songs about the sea, the gambler. the deep dark blue. the calm and the storm. i long to watch the waves roll in as the light glistens off the surface like a million silver coins in the sun. for now i'll settle for songs about the salty air ////
